Sir George and the Dragon

- Beginning – A heroic knight, Sir George, arrives at a grand castle. The king is greatly relieved by the knight’s arrival but is flustered by Sir George’s flippant and dismissive attitude as he describes the dragon harassing his kingdom as a fearsome and terrifying beast. After receiving the location of the dragon’s cave, the knight departs to slay it. Sir George arrives at the large, intimidating entrance to the dragon’s cave. Unperturbed by the desolate landscape and the bones littering the ground before the entrance, he calls to it, challenging it to a fight.

- Plot point one – Loud noises and deep, guttural growling answer his challenge. He is astonished when the dragon drops dead immediately after it emerges. Sir George ventures into the cave to investigate and finds the dragon’s offspring, who passes out from fright. After regaining consciousness, the dragonet explains that her mother had swallowed something manmade that didn’t agree with her a few days before. Disappointed at being beaten to the punch, he decides to train the dragonet in order to fight and kill her.

- Middle – Sir George begins training of the dragonet. He is initially aggressive and unforgiving. Device/intervention that makes the knight change his mind: Sir George is an old knight. Has a prior ailment/battle injury. Dragonet gives him some medicine for it. He continues training the dragonet but softens up, becoming encouraging and supportive.

- Plot point two – He realises he has become attached to the dragon and decides not kill her when the dragon has finished her training.

- End – Sir George adopts the dragon and gives her the name, Ascalon. Retires. Time jump forward to the King who has been taken ill. The servants send for the King’s doctor, which is revealed to be (an older?) Ascalon.

Original story

Was a stubborn dragon learning to fly. The dragon, which had been adopted by magpies attempts to fly but it too stubborn and bigheaded to accept help. After getting himself into a situation where he had to accept help to get down safely (being stuck on a tree branch for example), he agrees to taking lessons from his parents.
But Adam said this was too childish. :( So I took the idea of a knight training a dragon and worked on that. :)
